Henry Hudson - Henry Hudson was a Dutch explorer who had gone on four voyages. His goal was to find a northwest passage to Asia but unfortunately could not go that route but it resulted with him finding the Hudson Bay. While travelling, unlike Cabot, he met a group of natives. They were the Mohican Indians and Hudson and his crew began to trade with them. Henry Hudson seemed to have a better outcome of a voyage than John Cabot. Henry Hudson met people, discovered new land, and found new resources whereas Cabot had only found land.
Ferdinand Magellan - Ferdinand Magellan was an explorer who set out with his crew to find a passage through south america in 1519. They had seen the Pacific Ocean but along the way Magellan was killed. Unlike Cabot, he was killed by an arrow whereas Cabot was supposedly killed by a storm. Although both were killed, their crews had both finished the voyages for them. They had both made amazing accomplishments and still had a lasting impact even though they had not finished their journeys.
Vasco Nunez de Balboa - Balboa was a Mexican explorer that started his voyage to find gold in 1513. He did not find any gold but he had found the Pacific Ocean and claimed the waters for Spain. He was standing on a mountain when he had found the large area of water. Similar to Cabot, he had not found what he was looking for but he did find a body of water and he was also killed shortly after his discovery.
Jacques Cartier - Jacques Cartier had taken a very similar route on his expedition as John Cabot. Both of which had gone from Europe to areas around Newfoundland. Cartier's main purpose for his voyage was to find riches and a northwest passage, same as Cabot who wanted to get to Asia. On Jacques first journey he had explored the coast of Newfoundland, around the same area that Cabot's crew was, and found riches and more land. Although Jacques Cartier had discovered more than John Cabot, Cabot's journey had allowed for more exploration of the new world.
Sir Francis Drake - Sir Francis Drake was an explorer who had a goal of finding riches. He had a hatred for Spain and had gained the title of England having the most powerful navy. Drake was a privateer unlike John Cabot who's voyage was funded by a country. He had become the first Englishman to circumnavigate the globe and he had returned to England with many riches even though facing a storm and losing all other ships besides his own.
Bartolomeu Dias - Bartolomeu Dias was a Portuguese explorer who had traveled to the southern tip of Africa and had found the Cape of Good Hope. He was funded by Portugal whereas John Cabot was funded by England and both had very limited knowledge about their return trip. Dias had taken a second trip and during that time his ship was lost at sea.
